Jishnu D is an independent journalist and researcher based in Palakkad, Kerala. He writes on cinema, politics and culture. As part of the fellowship, he published a report about the plight of stringers in Kerala in the wake of the pandemic. In the process of reporting, Jishnu was helped and mentored by Pamela Philipose and Mahtab Alam.

Stringers have become critical for news gathering in this pandemic. Most of them have been working non-stop during the lockdown – and Kerala is still under partial lockdown – given the surge in demand for information. It’s taken a heavy toll.
