NFI’s partnership with Ford Foundation and Mc Arthur Foundation has resulted in setting up a “Youth Innovation Fund” (YIF) worth INR 50 million, for three years. The partnership has come into effect since August 2012. Under this NFI is required to support and facilitate innovative projects on reproductive and sexual health (RSH) among young people in India. The project requires NFI to re-grant monies to 10-12 NGOs that work on RSH. NFI will form an advisory group consisting of external experts and set up appropriate systems for technical support and review progresses including financial monitoring. Selection of grantees would be done following a professional approach. Each grantee, depending on its funds absorbing capacities, would be given grants worth Rs 25-35 lacs. While Ford’s contribution to this grant is Rs 1.52 crores, Mac Arthur comes in with Rs 71 lacs for first year. The total project budget is USD 1,010,000 for three years.
