Patang's Youth Resource Center (YRC): A space created by the youth and for the youth in Burla:
Patang's YRC started in January 2009 at Burla.  Two young volunteers: Jouban and Siddharth, got together to set up a platform for young people where they could discover and enhance their potential as change makers. Jouban with a collection of nearly 2000 books which he collected through donation and Siddharth with a group of 15 youth, who he had mobilized as volunteers from Burla laid the foundation of the YRC as a place for young people.

There has been no looking back since then. The moment one enters the one-room YRC, one is bombarded with hand made certificates with Sambalpuri designs, paper bags made out of recycled chart papers, colourful posters, greeting cards and handicraft items. In last 8 months, the YRC has organized an open life skills workshops for adolescents, summer camp for kids, theater workshops, parents' workshops on examination pressure on children, Ahwan campaign in Burla on Appreciating Diversity.

The YRC acts as a melting pot for youth coming from different socio-economic backgrounds. The centre provides a space for the youth to interact with each other and to re-invent themselves as responsible citizens and agents of social change.
