Partnerships with community health NGOs have been very enriching and meaningful for NFI. We have been working in Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh to improve maternal and child health, build health awareness among adolescents, improve knowledge for better health practices in the community and build linkages with the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) for better health services.

Current Partners

Ramakrishna Sarda Math & Mission, Hajaribagh, Jharkhand

RSMM has been working in the Katkamsandi block with the marginalized community in the area to improve their education and health through an integrated rural development approach for addressing community health issues. Targeting a total population of 22134 people in 22 villages, the organization is closely working with traditional birth attendants (“Sahiya”), ICDS, Janani Shishu Swasthaya Yojana, village health committees and the NRHM.

Forming groups of adolescent girls and boys to access information on ARSH issues in villages, the girls and boys of the club go around together to counsel newly married couples about delaying the birth of first child, spacing methods and the importance of nutrition and cleanliness. So far they have formed 20 boys clubs and 24 girls clubs in the current phase. The organization has also strengthened the older, preexisting groups. Subsequently, groups have initiated youth development centers at the cluster levels which are known as Nehru Yuvak Kendras (NYKs).
